Our Vision
At Secure Change Therapy, we believe that meaningful and lasting change begins with a foundation of emotional safety, self-awareness, and connection.
Life’s challenges, trauma, loss, relationship difficulties, anxiety, and major transitions can leave us feeling disconnected from ourselves, our relationships, and the life we want to create. These experiences can keep us stuck in patterns that no longer serve us, making it difficult to move forward with confidence and clarity.
“Therapy is not about fixing what is broken. It is about creating the safety, insight, and support needed for meaningful and lasting change.” – Maya Thompson

About Founder
Hi, I’m Maya. During COVID-19, I experienced one of the loneliest seasons of my life. During that time, I began searching for a deeper sense of purpose, beyond simply clocking in to a job that no longer felt meaningful. I had always been passionate about helping others, but I never imagined graduate school would be part of my journey.
However, surviving a life-changing pandemic gave me the courage to fully embrace my calling in mental health. I believe that our past experiences can shape how we view ourselves, navigate relationships, and respond to life’s challenges, but they do not have to define our future.
I earned a full scholarship to UCLA, where I completed my B.A. in World Arts and Cultures with a minor in Film & TV Studies. I later attended Pepperdine University, graduating with honors and earning my M.A. in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. Currently, I’m a doctoral candidate at USC, where I am studying Mental Health Leadership.

Why Secure Change?
The name Secure Change Therapy reflects the belief that transformation is most effective when it is built on a foundation of safety, trust, and connection.
Inspired by Attachment Theory and Attachment-Focused EMDR, the name represents the idea that meaningful change becomes possible when we develop a more secure attachment style.
As our sense of internal security grows, we are often better able to navigate challenges, regulate emotions, trust ourselves, and move through life with greater confidence and resilience.
Whether you are seeking support for trauma, relationship challenges, or personal growth, my goal is to provide a compassionate and collaborative space where you can deepen self-understanding, strengthen emotional well-being, and move toward the life you want to create.
